Principal’s Update & Newsletter: June

Newsletter – June 6

Dear families,

With May completed, we look forward to another action packed month of June. We have a number of wonderful activities this month.

June kicked off with a bang with our students participating in Track and Field (feature on page 2). On June 1, the whole school will be heading to Parc Safari. I would like to thank all the parents who have come out to volunteer. On June 19, we will have our Talent Show at 8:30 AM. As always, parents are invited to come enjoy the show. Our end of year “Fun Day” will be on June 22 and on June 23, we will have our end of year field trip on June 23 to the Ecole de Cirque et Gymnastique de Chateauguay.

In a previous letter, I mentioned that this can be a difficult time for grade 6 students as they are writing Ministry of Education exams and are looking forward to moving on to CVR. The math exam will take place on the week of June 12. Regular attendance and good sleep are vital for your child’s success during this week.

Report cards will be sent home in the mail following the end of the school year. If you have moved, please make sure that you have updated your address with Sylvie.

Our graduation will take place on June 19 at 6 PM. A HES tradition is that parents of students in grade 5 volunteer to help set up for the graduation so that the parents of graduating students are free to enjoy the ceremony. We will be contacting the grade 5 parents shortly. Thank you for your support.

As approved by Governing Board, the start of the year will be a little different next year. The first day of school will be August 29, 2017. It will be the same format as this year, taking place from 2-7 PM and will be a time to meet the teachers, learn about the year, have your child settle into class, and get all of the supplies, books, etc. that your child will need to start the year. August 30 will be a pedagogical day and regular classes will begin on August 31, 2017.

June 9 will remain a pedagogical day. We apologize for the confusion surrounding the status of this day.

Our Welcome to Pre-K and Kindergarten Day will take place on the afternoon of June 16, 2017 from 1-2 PM. This event is open to all families with students going into pre-k or kindergarten for the 2017-2018 school year. We will have a gift bag for all parents including supplies and books for your children. There will be activities for all and students will get a chance to ride on the bus.

We hope that everyone has a wonderful end to the school year. Please don’t hesitate to call (450-247-2022) or e-mail (
