March was an exciting month at Hemmingford Elementary School. Our staff hosted the community for our Family Literacy Night. This event was part of our “I Love to Read Month”. All of the activities were funded through the New Frontiers School Board Innovation Grant for which the funds are raised at the NFSB’s Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament will take place on June 30 at http://www.golfbellevue.com/. The events were able to take place thanks to the hard work and dedication of the entire team with special thanks to Mrs. McKellar and Mrs. McClintock.
At the end of the month, we had our Spaghetti Supper. Thanks to the sup-port of our Parent Participation Or-ganization (PPO) and community, we able to have our most successful Spaghetti Supper to date. Our two services were a success with more people taking advantage of the lunchtime seating than in 2016.
The activities are continuing with our community connections. Every week our students participate in a hands-on learning experience, including building a greenhouse, cooking, technology, etc. While our oldest students go out and participate in stages in the community.
