Hemmingford Elementary School had a wonderful month of February. We have been celebrating “I Love to Read Month”. Some of our activities include daily silent reading, a partnership with the local library, weekly celebrations of reading, and trips to Indigo bookstore. Our culminating activity will be a Literacy Night on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 5-7 in the evening. This is an activity that will be open to the entire family. All of the activities for our “I Love to Read Month” have been funded through money raised at the New Frontiers School Board Annual Golf Tournament each June. This year’s tournament will be held at Club de Golf Bellevue on June 30, 2017.
Looking forward, our Governing Board and PPO are busy planning this year’s Spaghetti Supper. The posters are up around town and we ask that you support us by selling tickets when they are sent home. The money raised from this event goes to your children in subsidising trips and purchasing materials for the school. I would like to thank all of the parents who have signed up to volunteer to help the day of. Our organizing committee will be in contact you to help review your role the day of. Parents will be responsible for their children at the Spaghetti Supper. Thank you for your support.
We would like to thank one of our volunteers, Roberta MacHardy, who donated a recliner to our library and to the Hemmingford Emergency and Christmas Basket Fund who donated $100 to our snack program.
